There is Freedom Working from Home

Posted in Business with tags , , on November 27, 2009 by stevenlocke

I have been working for myself for a long time now, and I think it was one of the best decisions of my life. I mean, there is nothing wrong with setting your own hours, right?

But the catch is that you still need to get the work done, and from that perspective, I can sometimes struggle. Today is a great example of some of the work that I have been doing. You see, I am selecting some Manitoba stock images for a calendar job that I have been contracted to do. Sure, it is fun, but sometimes you get sick of looking at pictures of barns, right?

Needless to say, I wouldn’t be able to have the freedom that I do without my notebook. This has allowed me the ability to stay away from working at a desk which makes this job feel a lot less than work. I love the fact that I can go work outside if it is nice out. Or I can go out for lunch and work at the same time. In fact, if I wanted to, I could work from a different location each and every day. Having this kind of freedom is one of the best reasons that I can think of for working at home.

But it has been a long road to get to this point. I had to spend many years working up the corporate ladder, and putting in long hours. I just about went through divorce a couple of times because of my dedication to my work instead of my family. But it was those sacrifices that I made along the way that has allowed me to do something that I finally love.

I also love the fact that there is some variety as to what I get to do. Some days I might be doing something a little more artistic, the next I might be doing something more analytical – but never the same thing on more than one day. This variety is wonderful. Since my job is the way it is, I would think that it should never be boring.

I also wonder if I will ever retire. I mean, if I can have an income without having to work fulltime and yet I can still make a good income to do the things I love, why would I quit? I just don't understand why so many people my age retire and go get a low paying job – it makes no sense to me. I could never be that kind of person.

So, I should get back to “work” and pick out these pictures. Maybe I will quit work early today and go to a movie. The freedom my work provides is awesome!

Doing Some Bathroom Remodeling

Posted in Home with tags , on November 16, 2009 by stevenlocke

The task of finishing a bathroom remodeling process tends to be somewhat complex. If you don’t plan and execute the job fittingly, the remodeling process might end up a disaster and you would be left with a bathroom that is basically not usable and a heavy financial penalty. Thus, a bathroom remodeling process should be correctly planned beforehand and executed according to it.

Prior to starting any work on the bathroom remodeling process, one should decide the purpose of the project. Bathroom remodeling might be done for various purposes with different objectives in mind like in order to put new fittings, to put interior decorations or to increase the interior space of the bathroom in question. As the steps that should be taken in the bathroom remodeling process differs depending on the desired purpose, it is vital to plan ahead. Although planning every minute detail of the project may seem rather an annoying task, it will save an individual a lot of money and disappointment in the long run.

Additionally, the type of the bathroom should also be considered. A full service bathroom remodeling process may differ from a half bathroom remodeling one due to the features of the bathroom. As half bathrooms lack interior space, one should always be cautious in setting the bathroom fittings, so that the completed bathroom would be a useable and a practical one. Furthermore, half bathrooms may also need certain extra additions such as an exhaust fan to provide more ventilation to the bathroom and special lighting and tile designs to make the bathroom’s appearance seem larger. Therefore, a small bathroom remodeling should be done with serious consideration.

Once the purpose of the remodeling project is determined, one should choose whether to employ a contractor or to carry out project by oneself. Generally, getting a contractor for a bathroom remodeling process would cost you almost $ 16,000 including high quality material. The cost could be reduced by perhaps 50% if you do the job yourself. Although this is less expensive, certain aspects of the bathroom remodeling process such as electrical and plumbing works might need professional help. Therefore, it is advised to carry out the process by oneself and to call in professional help when needed.

If one decides to undertake the remodeling job by yourself, it is important to make a project timeline and carry out the tasks in a logical sequence. Furthermore, it is better to bring and store the raw materials in advance at the work site to prevent any unnecessary delays.

A bathroom remodeling process is indeed a difficult task. However, a proper plan of attack may make it much easier.
